Congratulations Blaise Ferraro

Today the HFC salutes one of our home grown champions as he breaks the Club record for most number of senior games played by any one player. Held previously by former Captain Jarrod Catania our new record holder has played 155 senior games and a total of 285 club games.

To those who don’t know Blaise Ferraro well he can be a man of few words, a quiet achiever, but you know that when he takes the time to speak with you, or one of the players he is inspiring, his remarks are considered and from the heart.

His football career began in 1996 when he pulled on his footy boots for his local club Newlands Coburg. In 2000 Blaise and his family moved to Hillside and Newlands loss was the Sharks gain as he joined the under 12 Divison 5 team. Even at 10 he showed great maturity and loyalty to the Sharks as he decided to start the new season fresh at his new Club and forgo playing his 50th game for Newlands by 3 games.

Blaises’s junior career wasn’t always star studded, he worked hard and was rotated through various divisions and positions developing with each game he played. As his on field presence grew so did his passion, enthusiasm and dedication to the HFC. He has played an integral role in developing the Club both on and off the field having played in 3 junior premiership sides, captaining the Sharks only senior premiership team, been a premiership junior coach and is currently the under 16a assistant coach.

The best news though is that even with 285 Shark games under his belt Blaise is showing no signs of hanging up his boots so we can expect to see this great clubman running around at Shark Park for many more games to come.

Congratulations Blaise, I hope you are as proud of your record breaking career as we all are. You are one in a million and it’s an honour to be able to call you a Shark Champion.
